Spatial technology breakthrough

Waterite Developments is proud to announce that it has fully commercialized its WISE product offering. This ground breaking patent pending technology extends beyond anything else available in the irrigation and water industry. The WISE product is a rapid deployment system enabling quick decision support for water related industries, products and life cycles. What it provides is:

  • Resource and asset planning for ROI and ROE considering people, place and environment for existing or prospective (irrigated) water environments.
  • Strategy and action plan for maintenance service providers.
  • Positioning intelligence for infrastructure.

WISE is exclusively available through Aquatek Irrigation Pty Ltd or its authorised distributors.

Latest trends on Return on Investment (ROI) and Return on Environment (ROE)

Ever been in a defining moment meeting where the CFO pulls out the P&L, grumbles about overheads and bangs on the desk focusing on the ROI as the driver, then the board of directors hammer each other to kill expenditure, the first reactions are usually:

  1. Kill Research and Development - those guys just waste the company money and are nuts (pardon the cliche).
  2. Marketing - who needs it, not accountable.
  3. Sales - we will use our whiz bang computer system for that. Lets get the new online business going.
  4. Remaining Directors are politely asked to trim excesses and the HR Director then breaks out into a sweat.

I am sure there are many different versions of meetings like this going on as I write this article, however the best practice industries and companies are ones that see the forest for ants climbing the trees and that ROE across the enterprise should be one of the most important factors but still meet acceptable returns to all stakeholders.

Is modern drip irrigated agriculture a dying practice ?

From the 1960's modernized irrigated agriculture rapidly expanded due to the availability of differing types of plastics. Plastics are now common in all areas of our lives providing many advantages to us, however these same plastics will at some stage start declining as they are derivatives of oil. Now the dilemma facing the modern irrigation industry is the very efficiency gained by these modern plastic pipes and drips (deemed the current most efficient watering method) is also causing an environmental issue and recycling practices reduce efficiency. I will let you ponder on that thought.
