The Vines Golf Club - Waterproofing

The Vines Golf Club, like many golf clubs in the early 2000's faced a double edged sword, drought and an economic downturn in the golf industry.
Subsequent years of drought and water restrictions being imposed on potable supplies applied the watering pressure. The superintendent did a magnificent job to manage a course with only about 20% of its normal water use. He demonstrated how far water management stress could be pushed and still be able to recover. I have never seen this feat equalled on any other course that I have visited.
During this drought period the course worked with Aquatek to secure water for the future of the course.
The solution was to harvest water from a catchment drain running around the perimeter of the Happy Valley Resevoir, pump it via. a pipeline to a neighbouring creek, allow the water to naturally flow down the creek, then a second pump station transfers this water to the golf course dam. The project was a resounding success and showed the ingenuity of the golf club combined with our engineering experience to solve this problem.
The course has well and truly secured it's water future and can now present the course as it sees fit to the benefits of its members as well as benefiting the community as a whole with minimizing it's water footprint on our precious potable drinking water.
